Landscape

HD video, 3'24''

2013

This work is an attempt to comprehend video as painting. The main feature of a painting is flatness or two-dimensionality. In classical landscapes, artists tried to solve the problems of relations and subdominance of three-dimensional space and two-dimensional space. Spatial views were then of great importance: a close-up view, a mid-distance view, a far-distance view. In this work the text becomes information load corresponded with every view of the image. The moving text in the video is borrowed from a real love letter, but it carries no real information. Rather, it draws a graphic boundary between the close-up, the middle distance and the background.
